Promises broken in brow lands saga

Letters To The Editor

re: Brow Lands saga takes another twist (July 28)

The article had explained that Deanlee was in talks with another business and that it wasn’t clear that Deanlee was still a part of this process.

Since I have been involved in this, I have spoken to many residents who feel that this process lacks transparency and believe that Deanlee has flipped the property.

As we wait on the OMB hearing in September and council’s approval of this new mystery plan, I understand why many people feel defeated and question the credibility of their input.

This process has made promises to the community by the seller and buyer which have not been kept. Chedoke promised that the development project would not happen unless they had the backing of the neighbours and refused to allow speculation, while Deanlee promised to respect the community’s input of keeping in character of the community.

Well, the residents never backed this project, speculation has apparently occurred and Deanlee management has broken their promise by proposing a development which is ridiculously out of character with the community.

How do you expect the residents to react? Now that they know they might be dealing with a land speculator, there is a whole new argument about to rise.
