To-day, after droping off a friend & before continuing back to my home in Burlington, I diverted through the Scenic Dr. area where I saw many Chedoke Brow lawn signs so, here I am on this site.

I just read Bigger Picture & feel it should be “required reading” for the governance of many cities. In my view Mr Cobert’s thinking is right on the mark!

I'm making a presentation to my city council soon. May I borrow some of your guiding questions as to what city council should think of when making economic decisions?

Here in Brantford, we have a similar concern. We too have many buildings and lands that are poorly used. Bellied up bingo parlours, old empty store fronts. But builders who want the easy option of building on a treed lot. They don't want to take down empty buildings. Bulldozing trees is cheap and easy for them. BUT, what a cost to the community air quality.

Once the forest is gone...it is gone! Don't let it happen. Trees work to undo poor air quality. Hamilton struggles with it's air quality, as do the remaining Ontario cities. Buildings should be built on land that is not an open green space. There is plenty of land. A land use audit is in order. Air quality needs to be a priority. Treed lots work to clean the air.
